Early-access draft. These terms are a working draft for an early test of the game and are pending legal review. Sections marked TODO are not final.
Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and TODO — operator legal name, the operator of ViceLedger (“ViceLedger”, “we”, “us”), for the ViceLedger game, its web client at play.viceledger.net, its servers and this website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Early access
- ViceLedger is in early development. All art is placeholder, and features are incomplete and will change.
- The Service may be unavailable, slow or broken at any time. We may take servers down without notice for testing, updates or fixes.
- We may reset game data at any time, including characters, items, currency, companies and market history, and we may remove or rebalance anything in the game. Resets are not grounds for compensation.
- Solana settlement is in local testing only and is not part of the Service.
Who can play
- You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough where you live to use online services, either on your own or with a parent's or guardian's consent.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these terms for you.
- The Service is not offered in South Korea, and you may not use it from there. You also may not use it from a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, or if you are on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You may not use the Service if we have previously banned you, or if the law prohibits you from using it.
- The game servers are in the United States. You are responsible for following the laws that apply where you play.
ViceLedger depicts crime and violence. It is fiction, and nothing in it encourages real-world crime.
Your account
- You can sign in with Google, Apple or as a guest. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- A guest account lives in your browser. If you clear your browser data or change devices, you can lose it, and we cannot recover it. We may delete a guest account, with its game data, after 12 months with no sign-in.
- Accounts are personal. Do not sell, buy, rent, share or transfer accounts.
- Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account.
In-game items have no real-money value
- In-game currency, items, vehicles, property, companies, shares, market positions and anything else you obtain in the game (“Virtual Items”) are part of the game. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use them in the game. You do not own them, and they are not your property.
- Virtual Items have no real-money value. They cannot be redeemed, exchanged, cashed out or sold for real money, cryptocurrency or anything else of value, by us or anyone else.
- Buying, selling or trading Virtual Items or accounts for real money or anything of value outside the game is prohibited.
- Company prices and other in-game market figures exist only inside the game. They are not financial products, and nothing in ViceLedger is an investment, a security or an offer of one. There is no token sale. We make no promise of any return or value.
- We may change, limit or remove Virtual Items, including through resets, without compensation.
Full-Loot risk
ViceLedger is a Full-Loot game. What you deploy can be looted. Equipment you carry, cargo you haul, vehicles you drive and other Virtual Items you take into the world can be taken by other players when you are defeated, robbed or raided, and factories and other property can be damaged in raids. These losses are a normal part of the game. We do not restore or compensate for them, except where we decide, at our discretion, that a loss came from a server error.
Conduct
In-game crime is part of the game. Outside of that fiction, you agree not to:
- Cheat, use bots, macros or automation, or use or spread exploits. Report bugs to us instead.
- Interfere with, overload, reverse engineer or gain unauthorized access to the Service, its servers or other players' accounts.
- Harass, threaten, stalk or abuse other players, or post hateful, sexual or illegal content.
- Impersonate others, including ViceLedger staff.
- Trade Virtual Items or accounts for real money or anything of value.
- Use the Service to break the law, or to plan or encourage real-world harm.
Our content and your feedback
The Service, including its software, art, text and design, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. Some placeholder art is used under license from third parties. You may not copy, sell or distribute the Service except as these terms allow. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Suspension and termination
- You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see Delete your account).
- We may suspend or end your access, remove Virtual Items or reverse in-game transactions if you break these terms, if we suspect fraud, cheating or abuse, or to protect other players or the Service.
- We may end the early-access test or shut down the Service at any time.
- When your access ends, your license to the Service and to Virtual Items ends too, without compensation. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example, Virtual Items, disclaimers and limitation of liability) still apply.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, or that game data will be kept.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, Virtual Items, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to fifty US dollars (US$50). Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived where you live.
Governing law and disputes
TODO — legal review The governing law, the courts or forum for disputes, and whether any arbitration clause or class-action waiver applies have not been decided. This section will be completed after legal review and before the Service leaves early access. Until then, please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to resolve any issue informally.
Changes to these terms
We will post changes on this page and update the effective date above. If a change is material, we will give notice on this website or in the game before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
